Five things Mama was right about!
Loving your job can be a very rewarding experience - but sometimes it could mean having your health take the back seat. While it can work for a while, burnout is real and will affect your performance and even your relationships.
Here are five tips that will help you stay healthy at work:
1. Hydrate
If you find yourself having midday headaches, it’s most probably because you’re dehydrated.
Drink 8 to 10 glasses every day -- can help keep you hydrated. Many foods are also good sources of water; fruits like oranges, grapefruit, grapes, watermelon, and apples can help keep you healthy and hydrated. Tip: Bring your favorite water bottle and set alarms for refills.
Those water refill and restroom breaks set you up for recharge and go back to being productive in the office.
2. Eat your lunch
Reducing sugar and adding healthier meals on your daily routine keeps you from hunger pains and overeating. If your lunch could belong in a vending machine, it’s time to switch up your lunch routine! Snacking right and just enough can also be good for your health. Make sure to eat your lunch away from your desk to prevent any distractions.
3. Have a break
We do our best work when we have the right fuel. Being prepared to do quality work also means taking quality breaks. Set an alarm for yourself to just stop, stretch, and move your body, and eyes! Here’s a list of free apps that can remind you to take those much-needed stretch breaks.
4. Take the stairs
No time for a daily workout? Take the stairs as your fitness option, it doesn’t only make you healthier, it can even make you smarter. According to Psychology Blog Spring, for each flight of stairs climbed daily, brain age decreases by just over half a year.
5. Breathe
It is very easy to lose track when buried under piles of work. Take a deep breath. Refocus. Be mindful and practice focusing to help you prioritize your most important tasks.
